Have you ever had moments where you felt overwhelmed by the things you wanted or needed to do? It probably felt confusing and frustrating. You know you weren’t experiencing laziness; you had the desire, but something was blocking your motivation. These moments of limitation or mental setbacks stem from many things, but I often find they are hindered because you’re unsure of your direction. And like any other human emotion, your uncertainty has a source, and developing personal clarity is the key component to your success as a business owner. In this article, you’ll learn four reasons why personal clarity should be a priority and three steps to help you push past the overwhelm.
Here’s why personal clarity helps your business succeed
1. You stop floundering and you go after the things on your list aggressively.
When you become crystal clear about what business success means to you, you ignite an inner fire within you that pushes you to tackle your to-do list with fierce motivation. It’s kind of like a constant source of productivity and makes checking one item after another off your list empowering – you have the energy and you know what to prioritize first.
2. You show up with more confidence and it shines through in your attitude, quality of work and stamina day-to-day.
Clarity breeds confidence. It clears the mental space you spend criticizing yourself, second-guessing your next move, and gives you the know-how to feel confident in your business and life. It also shines in your work, which is attractive to your clients and makes it easier to accomplish your goals.
3. You actually achieve your goals and this cyclical accomplishment refuels and refines your purpose and vision.
How much time do you spend wondering if your day-to-day supports your overall purpose and vision? Developing clarity makes moving towards your goals and achieving your desired outcomes possible. You feel grounded, capable, and open to the new doors and paths available to you.
4. Your business can become what it’s meant to be, and steer clear of what it’s not.
Clarity acts like a compass that shows you the path where you need to go and eliminates the time you waste contemplating one decision over another. When you know what you want and allow yourself to work towards your vision, you’re able to avoid anything that prevents you from achieving what you truly desire.
Now that we’ve learned the reasons why personal clarity is a key component to determining your path, let’s learn how to develop it for yourself, and the next steps you need to take to secure your business’s future.
Three steps to develop clarity
It’s obvious now that personal clarity is a game-changer and an invaluable investment of your time and energy. It makes a lasting impact on your future, but also in your everyday life (and let’s be real – that’s where the daily grind is and where you need support).
Think of those extra squishy tennis shoes that provide shock support – this is what personal clarity does for your everyday life. Yes, you might have quality shoes that last longer, but the added benefits are; increased comfortability, better mileage, added capacity to cover greater distances, and protected health. This example is a great illustration of personal clarity. So, how do we uncover it and use it to skyrocket our virtual assistant business?
STEP ONE: Stop doing so much
I say this a lot, but it cannot be said enough! You have to slow down enough to create space for your mind and heart to breathe and uncover what you need. If I asked you right now, at this moment, What does your soul need? Would you have a response? Do you know the answer to this question?
It’s ok if you don’t, but setting time aside to determine the answer, will not only help you discover clarity within your business but provide you with a starting point to fulfill your purpose (Creating roadmaps are great tools to discover what you want). If you go through your day-to-day without knowing what your soul needs, you’re already on the road to burnout, my friend.
STEP TWO: Give yourself permission to imagine
We don’t let ourselves imagine what we really want in life and what we’re capable of achieving. Imagining your dreams is not something you “should do”, it’s something to want to do. Don’t you want to visualize your DREAM life and create a path to achieving your life’s ambitions?
Wanting more out of your life isn’t bad! Sometimes people feel guilty that they aren’t practicing gratitude when they desire something more, or they can’t break free from the realities of their current situation. It’s wanting that will set you onto a new path of freedom, success, and passion. Don’t shy away from your deepest desires. Allow them to blossom.

STEP THREE: Don’t forget about it and don’t lose hope
You may not be ready to expand or work towards your purpose every day. Maybe your heart’s not there yet, or maybe your other hustles are not optional, and they require your undivided attention. I get it. We’ve all been there, and some seasons of life allow us to do more while others restrict us.
Despite setbacks or any hardships you’re currently facing, remember your purpose, your why, and the bigger picture. Once you know deep down what your soul needs, don’t forget and don’t lose hope. Don’t let go of those visions of what you want your future to be. It might not be time to invest in them now, and you may not have the ability to work towards it today – but you will. The tighter you hold onto those dreams and desires, the more you will treasure them and stay committed to pursuing them.
